The salty spray from the waves splashed across Kouyran's Matatu-covered face, soaking the Kanohi and getting into all of the crevices and gaps of the Ko-Toa's armour. Their ship crested another wave, sinking down into another trough among the ravines of the ocean. The sinking sun threw rays of crimson light across the deck, casting the other Toa's faces in a malevolent light, painting them with blood. One Ta-Toa- a particularly irresponsible one, named Haarnak- was drunk, playing around with fireballs and floating with his Kadin like the fool he was. Kouyran shook his head at the Haarnak's idiocy, instead focusing on the heavy disk launcher he was manning.
The prevailing atmosphere was tense. Very. They were sailing in hostile waters, running a risk of the enemy's pet Rahkshi blasting them out of the water at any moment. And it just so happened that they were blasted out of the water. But not by Rahkshi. Haarnak had stumbled below deck, and had apparently come across a barrel -or more- of gunpowder. Excellent. The one pyromaniac aboard the ship, found the gunpowder.
Kouyran leaps from his post as the deck heaves underneath him, ballooning outwards in a matter of seconds, and then exploding, like an egg hatching a dragon of pure fire. He sees his friends engulfed in fire, and their ashes thrown outward, scattered into the ocean like nothing. He drops into the sea, and as he comes up to the fire-covered surface, one of the heavy metal disks from the ship's armament is sent flying out of the half-burnt wreck by some unknown force, striking Kouyran's head.
His mind goes blank. Kouyran the soldier, defender of the light- Gone. Kouyran the adult- Gone. What remains? A childhood state of mind, innocent, annoying, and very unwise. His body drifts down into the water, a current gently picking the Ko-Toa up and sweeping him far, far away to the south.
Thank you for reading! :D I felt like doing this, especially seeing as Scholar's about to get a big mental change, from the childish mindset he currently has, to his pre-game consciousness. And also Haarnak's in there. The guy who threw a fireball at the Dasaka. Blame him. I might do something like this for the Akari at some point as well.
